The Icons Collection
The Icons Collection is a relatively new series that was introduced in the leadup to the release of the 2021 lineup. The goal with the collection is to introduce pivotal Harley-Davidson® motorcycles reimagined for the modern rider. The initial goal was to release two new Icons each year. For the 2021 model year, only the Electra Glide Revival was made. With the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® El Diablo, we finally get our second Icon. It’s unclear if the brand intends to introduce another Icon this year or even two more, but the Low Rider® El Diablo is so cool that we can’t imagine most fans being mad if they don’t.
Get a Load of the Low Rider® El Diablo
The FXRT Sport Glide is a beloved motorcycled manufactured from 1983 to the 1992. This model has become synonymous with the West Coast motorcycle scene of the 1980s. For many, it’s the epitome of the SoCal vibe. But its popularity extends across the country, including among riders in and near Haverhill Massachusetts, and even across the pound. The Sport Glide has become more iconic with time. It continues to inspire custom builds, and fairings made in that classic design are still quite popular for custom builds as well. The Low Rider® ST, which is a new model, is clearly inspired by that classic bike, and the Low Rider® El Diablo takes that up a notch with a custom design that pays even more homage.
This Is the Right Bike For
The 2022 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® El Diablo near Haverhill is an excellent option for anyone who wants a performance cruiser that exudes cool. The Lower Rider models in general are comfortable, which is a hallmark of Harley-Davidson® cruisers but this subgroup in particular. These models are also more powerful than the typical model in the Cruiser family as they have the Milwaukee-Eight® 117 engine. The fairing and saddlebags on this model make it more appropriate for longer rides, and this bike also has a custom paint scheme direct from the factory that is limited to 1,500 units.
How Does It Differ From the Low Rider® ST
The Lower Rider ST and the Lower Rider El Diablo are fundamentally the same bike. In fact, the Low Rider® El Diablo build process begins with an almost completed Low Rider® ST. One notable difference is that the Low Rider® El Diablo has the premium fairing sound system by Rockford Fosgate®, which you can add after the fact to the Lower Rider ST if you like. The Low Rider® El Diablo also has the custom aesthetic, which is limited to 1,500 models, and it has a badge that indicates its number within that limited series.
How Does It Differ From the Low Rider® S
The Lower Rider S and the Low Rider® ST/El Diablo are built on the same Softail platform and quite similar overall—paint schemes aside. The biggest difference is that the Low Rider® ST has large frame-mounted fairing. The Low Rider® S, on the other hand, has a small cowl over the headlamp. The handlebars are a bit different as well. Those on the Low Rider® ST pull back to the rider more. The Low Rider® also has removable clamshell saddlebags, and that is about it. Another point is that due to the smaller cowl, you cannot install the Rockford Fosgate® audio system with the S the way you can with the ST.
